What is the best way to get started yoyoing?
To start learning yoyo tricks you need a good yoyo. A good beginner yoyo – like the Fast 201 Yoyo – will have a ball bearing axle which allows the yoyo to spin a long time. This will make learning the basics much easier. Once you have mastered the basics and learned some picture tricks you will be on your way.
What are Picture Tricks?
A Picture Trick is any yoyo trick where you make a picture out of the string. Many classic tricks like Rock the Baby and the Eiffel Tower are picture tricks. Picture tricks require a long sleeper to perform, so they are the ideal tricks for beginners to use to develop their skills.
What is the best yoyo for learning Beginner Tricks?
Our highest recommended yoyo for someone who has never yoyoed before is the Fast 201. It is designed to make the basics as easy as possible. We suggest you consider the Fast 201 Beginner Pack which includes extra strings and other accessories to speed your progress as you learn tricks.
1A Yoyo Tricks
What are 1A Yoyo Tricks (aka String Tricks)?
1A yoyo tricks, also called String Tricks, are tricks performed with one yoyo landing on the string. To make these tricks easier, yoyos designed for 1A are wide and sleep a long time. While advanced 1A yoyos are also designed to play unresponsive, it is easier to learn the 1A basics on a regular responsive yoyo first.
What does it mean for a yoyo to play unresponsive?
When a yoyo is unresponsive it will not come back to your hand when you pull it up. Many 1A yoyos come playing unresponsive to allow for more difficult tricks. To play with an unresponsive yoyo you will need to learn a trick called a bind to bring the yoyo back. Otherwise, the yoyo will not come back.
What is the best yoyo for starting 1A String Tricks?
The perfect yoyo for someone getting into string tricks will be able to play both responsive (to make the basics easier) and unresponsive (for more advanced tricks). This makes the YoTricks Edition ONE Unresponsive Kit a fantastic option. This yoyo plays great, it comes responsive, and can be modified for unresponsive play as well.
What is the ultimate yoyo for 1A style play?
While no yoyo may rightly be called “the best”, at YoTricks.com we feel the Genesis with Hubstacks has that X-factor that sets it apart from other yoyos. It’s fast without compromising on control, it allows for a diverse set of tricks without undermining the basics. It just has that special sauce – it is difficult to describe its awesomeness, but you know it when you taste it.
2A Yoyo Tricks
What are 2A Two-Handed Yoyo Tricks?
2A, or Two-Handed Yoyoing, is the antithesis to 1A style yoyoing. Unlike 1A string tricks, 2A yoyo tricks never land on the string. Instead, they usually involve repetitive motions like looping. While ultimately two yoyos will be used at one time in this style, it is a good idea to learn these looping tricks one hand at a time.
How can I learn to yoyo with two hands?
Once you have mastered a trick with one hand, learning it on your opposite hand is like starting from scratch. Some feel their opposite hand is not as capable of learning tricks, which is not true, but it can take more time. Finally, when doing tricks with both hands you will feel like you’re starting over again, but with enough time and patience anyone can learn two-handed tricks.
What is the best yoyo for learning 2A yoyo tricks?
The Loop 360 is designed for those just beginning their journey into 2A yoyo tricks. It loops consistently and sleeps surprisingly well for a 2A yoyo. It also costs less than half of some other 2A yoyos, so getting two won’t break the bank. In the Loop 360 Two-Handed Kit we have also included lube, strings, and finger wrap for optimal play.
3A Yoyo Tricks
What are 3A Yoyo Tricks?
3A style yoyoing is basically just 1A (String Tricks) with two yoyos, one in each hand. While 3A yoyo tricks look intimidating at first, once you have a few tricks under your belt it becomes increasingly addictive and exciting to learn.
What are the best yoyos for learning 3A yoyo tricks?
As in 1A, metal yoyos will typically outperform plastic for 3A. For players new to the style, however, we recommend using two (identical) plastic yoyos because plastic can handle more collisions than metal (and there will be lots of collisions). The Protostar is a high performing plastic yoyo making it the ideal candidate for learning 3A.
4A Offstring Yoyo Tricks
What are 4A Offstring Yoyo Tricks?
4A yoyo tricks, also called Offstring Yoyo Tricks, are tricks where the yoyo comes off the string. 4A is an exciting style, great for performing and showing off. With the right yoyo, offstring tricks can also be some of the easiest tricks to learn.
What is the best yoyo for learning 4A yoyo tricks?
Our highest recommended offstring yoyo is the ReXtreme yoyo. It is extra wide making it easy to catch, and it is made of a durable plastic that bounces when it hits the floor. If you miss, just catch it off the bounce. Several players on the YoTricks team learned all their offstring tricks on this great yoyo.
5A Freehand Yoyo Tricks
What are 5A Freehand Yoyo Tricks
In 5A, or Freehand style yoyoing, the yoyo string is not connected to your finger. Instead the string is attached to a counterweight – usually a dice or a bouncy ball – so that both the yoyo and the counterweight can be moved freely at the same time.
What is the best yoyo for starting 5A Freehand tricks?
Any 1A yoyo can be used for 5A by adding a counterweight. The best yoyos for 5A, however, are well balanced against the counterweight to make Freehand tricks easier to learn. The Metal Drifter (used in our videos), from its shape to its weight, was designed from the ground up for 5A style play. We suggest the Unresponsive Kit for basic to advanced play.
