Learn how to do the Two-handed Crossover Loops yoyo trick. Video transcript

This trick is your Two-Handed Crossover Loops and they look like this: you are just going to be doing your two-handed loops and then you are going to crossover with one hand and continue to loop. That is pretty much the trick but there are a couple of variations that can really take this trick over the top but first we need to work on the basics.

Obviously, if you are going to want to crossover your loops that means you are going to have to be looping here and you are going to have to be able to change direction and loop all the way over here. When I was first working on this what I decided to do is I would stand in front of a pole and, you know if it is right in front of you when you throw your yoyo out you are going to hit it, and so what I would do is I would loop on either side of the pole. So it would be right there, and then I would change my loop and try to bring it over eventually you would get better so that you could go on either side of it. That is a nice way to do it where you do not have to worry about hitting yourself too much.

Once you’ve got that you can also loop on either side of your opposite arm. So you can just bring it over the top like this. Once you get that then you are ready to do both yoyos at the same time.

The first couple of times you try this don’t be worried, if you just kind of lose control or something. I remember the first time I was doing this I tried to bring my hand over and for some reason my left-hand just decided to do an Around the World. I have hit myself a ton of times doing this trick, that is just part of the process. That is what it means to be a yoyoer and work on some of these more difficult tricks. Just keep working on it because this is a really impressive trick once you get it down.

So, like I said, all you are going to do is you are going to bring one hand over the top, and you are going to keep looping. If you notice, my hands are actually separated, just a little bit. You can see that my right hand is pretty far over the top of my left-hand. That actually allows you to keep your full range of motion when you are doing the loop. If you bring them together a little bit too much you have to change the way you loop, and that can make the trick more difficult than it really needs to be. So that is one thing that I recommend bringing you hand really high over the top, and lowering your other hand just a little bit and that should make it a little bit easier to learn at first. That will give you more room when you are doing the tricks.

Once you have got that down you can continue to loop on the other side of your hand like this. What I recommend is just going back and forth to really perfect the trick, because if you can do this then it shows that you really have control. You can do this with your opposite hand too, once you get that down. Once you have that type of control, then you are ready to start doing some of the variations.

So, the first one is just to crossover with one hand and then to crossover with the other hand. So that just looks like this: you are just going to go right-hand over, bring it back, left hand over. Just as simple as that. Once you get a little bit better at it you can do the crossovers faster: so just over, over. Just like that. It is as simple as that.

If you really do it fast, the way that I just did, then that looks really impressive, especially if you are in a routine. It looks like you have a lot of control, because you really do.

If you are keeping your arms separated, you can do another variation. You can actually crossover looping at the same time. That is another nice variation that you can do. Once you get better at that, you can go fast, you can go back and forth.

So don’t be afraid, if you hit yourself a couple of times just get back up. The bruises will heal. These yoyos are not that heavy. So, just work on it. Those are your Two-handed Crossover Loops.

This trick is your Two-Handed Crossover Loops and they look like this: you are just going to be doing your two-handed loops and then you are going to crossover with one hand and continue to loop. The trick pretty much describes itself. You are just going to be doing your inside and outside loops with each hand at the same time. That’s pretty much the trick. There are a few variations that will make the trick more interesting. Just like any two-handed trick you want to make sure that you have mastered the trick with both hands, and that should make learning the variations much easier.

Once you’ve got the trick mastered in each hand you can put them together. I have already showed you one variation. Alternate your loops, and then you can alternate your inside-outside loops just like this.

Another thing that is interesting, is you can do your loops at the same time and then when you do your outside loops it creates just a little bit of a different effect.

You can even do loops at the same time, but alternate your inside-outside loops. It kind of gives a back and forth motion. That looks like this. You can change those up with the other ones. Once you’ve really got the trick down you can move between them.

Snap Wind yoyo trick video. Video transcript

When your really getting serious about your two-handing, what your going to find is that some of the tricks that you learned before to help you out with your yoyoing – they’re just not going to work so well any more. For example, the old wind up trick that we showed you, like this… it’s a little bit awkward when you’ve got another yoyo in your hand.
So, what I’m going to teach you now is called the Snap Wind, and it looks like this. So, to do the snap wind it’s actually easier to practice if you just take the yoyo right off your hand, and that way you can work on the motion without the string getting in the way and without having a whole lot of problems.
All your gonna do is practice it just like this. Just like the wind that we showed you before you want the yoyo to do most of its spinning right here in front of your face because that will give it all the slack it needs. What you want to do is hold the yoyo between your thumb and middle finger, and your gonna use your thumb to push the yoyo upward to get it to kinda sit right here and your gonna use your middle finger to put the spin on it.
Once you’ve got the spin down really well you can try it on your finger. Just let the string hang out… give it a snap.
One thing that you’ll find is that if the string is really twisted it’s going to make this trick a whole lot more difficult to learn. You can still do the trick but it’s going to cause some frustration. So, if want to practice this trick try to make sure that the string isn’t all twisted, that you’ve balanced that out, and the other this is – this is a two-handed trick so you want to make sure that if you’ve mastered it in one hand you master it in the other.
And that’s the snap wind.

When your really getting serious about your two-handing, what your going to find is that some of the tricks that you learned before to help you out with your yoyoing – they’re just not going to work so well any more.

Sidewinder / Slight Adjustment yoyo trick video. Video transcript

This trick I am going to show you is called the Sidewinder; it looks like this.

Now, this trick is useful when you are two-handing to do slight-adjustments to string tension when you don’t really want to take the time to do a UFO or you just don’t want something that big in your routine.

This trick, when you throw the yoyo off to the right it loosens the string, when you throw it to the left it tightens it.

So this is how you do it: First thing, you want to throw a good sleeper. While the yoyo is sleeping you are actually going to move the yoyo either off to the right or left depending on whether you want the string to be looser or tighter. You just want to push it off really slow. Kind of like this. When the yoyo reaches right about at its height you are going to take your hand and you are going to pull it towards yourself – just a little bit. That will cause the yoyo to go just a little bit higher and hopefully to even out with the level of your hand. If that happens then the string is going to spin out and that will cause the string to get looser or tighter. So, this is how it looks to the outside. Just like that. You can also do it to the inside. Just like that.

This is a two-handed trick so you want to make sure to master it not only with your right-hand, but also with your opposite hand, or vice-verse if you are left-handed.

That’s the Sidewinder.

Two-handed Loops yoyo trick instructional video. Video transcript

This trick I’m gonna show you are your two-handed loops. And, really, the trick is as simple as that; it’s just looping with two hands, but chances are this is the first looping two-handed trick that you’re going to learn. I’m going to give you a couple of tips that really apply to any two-handed looping trick. That will help you get started. The first one is that you want to make sure that with your opposite hand you have really mastered the trick. If you’re not hitting the trick very well every time then when you try to add the second yoyo it’s just going to compound it and it’s going to be a disaster. So, make sure you’ve learned that trick really well.
Once you got it, moving into two handed looping is not necessarily the easiest thing in the world. What I did when I started, and what I still do when I’m learning tricks, is I just get the motion going with my opposite hand and then once I feel confident about it I’ll throw in my more dominant hand. When you get better at it you can just go right into it, it’s no big deal. Another way that I’ve seen some people try it that works for them is they do both at the same time and that way your opposite hand can mirror the motion of your dominant hand to pick up the trick.
Eventually you want to get better at the trick so that you can either alternate… you can control the motion of both so that you can do them at the same time…
What you probably don’t want to do is get into this half alternating thing where you’re not perfectly matching them or perfectly alternating them because it makes it look like you don’t really have control of the yoyos, and to an audience that doesn’t really look right. So, once you get better at the trick you can just pull them off just like this.
Just keep working on it, don’t give up. Those are you’re two handed loops.

This trick I’m gonna show you are your two-handed loops.
Two-handed Around the World yoyo trick video. Video transcript

When you’re getting into your two-handed tricks, an easy place to start is with two-handed around the worlds. In this video I’m just going to show you a couple variations.
The first one is also the easiest; just to do two at the same time, just like that. Once you get that you may want to move on to alternating around the worlds, like this.
From there, you can move on to one forward around the world and one in reverse. This one actually looks really good in a profile, and, what I tend to do, is do the reverse with my dominate hand because that’s the more difficult trick. It looks like this.
Finally, the last trick is to do a side to side around the world with both hands. You want to make sure to start with one and then bring the other one in so they don’t collide. It looks like this.
Those are just a couple variations of two-handed around the world to get you started.

When you’re getting into your two-handed tricks, an easy place to start is with two-handed around the worlds.
